Airport Berlin Brandenburg International (BBI)

The building of the airport Berlin Brandenburg International (BBI) is one of the most important infrastructural investments in the region. The starting capacity of BBI amounts to 22 million air travellers per year and can be further expanded depending on the traffic up to 40 million passengers.

With BBI many thousands of new jobs will be created in the region until 2012, mainly by means of an increasing transport performance, a significant improvement of the quality of location as well thanks to an additional purchasing. The total employment effect of BBI in 2012 may be more than 70.000 jobs.

On the 30th October 2011 the new capital airport in Schönefeld will be opened.
